Recreational skiing

Ski free.
Get seriously good.

Once you've hit recreational standard, the whole slope opens up. Come and ski it unsupervised, run after run, turning everything you picked up in lessons into real, repeatable practice – at your own pace, on your own lines.

Skiers who session regularly see it pay off fast: sharper edge control, smoother turns, better fitness and a whole lot more confidence. The more you ski, the more it clicks.

Every session runs on our all-weather 110m Proslope, so you're never waiting on snow, season or sunshine to get out there.

The recreational standard

Earn your
freedom.

Recreational sessions are unsupervised, so for everyone's safety there's a standard to reach first. Tick these off and the main slope is all yours.

Need to level up first? Book a course or a private session and we’ll fast-track you to recreational standard. See all skiing.

How it works

Turn up.
Drop in.

Recreational sessions are simple: book your slot, grab your kit and ride. Here's what you need to know before you do.

Book ahead

All recreational sessions are booked in advance so we can keep the slope safe and uncrowded. Reserve online in seconds or call reception – live times and pricing live in the booking system.

Main slope only

Recreational skiers use the main slope at all times. The nursery slope and middle travelator are reserved for those being coached by an instructor.

Kit & helmets

Bring your own skis, boots and poles, or hire from our rental desk – fully stocked with Salomon skis and boots. Helmets, gloves and long sleeves are recommended, and helmets are mandatory on the jumps and freestyle kit.

After dark

Ski & Dine
nights.

The best way to end the day: ski under the lights, then warm up with a proper feed. Our Ski & Dine evenings pair a recreational session with a meal – all in one easy booking.

  • A recreational session on the slope – ski or snowboard, your call.
  • A meal from the Alpine Pub Super Saver Menu or the Children’s Menu.
  • Saturday & Tuesday nights – a relaxed, social 3-hour session.

Good to know

Slope Pass FAQs.

You’ll need to side-step up and down both sides, hold a straight schuss and make a snow plough; snow plough glide, brake and stop; link several snow plough turns down the main slope; and use the main slope lift on your own. Tick those and you’re cleared to ski recreationally. Not there yet? A few lessons will get you over the line.
Long sleeves, long trousers, gloves and clothes you don’t mind getting a little grubby. It’s an outdoor slope, so dress for the weather on the day. We recommend a helmet too – gloves and helmets are available at reception if you need them.
Helmets are strongly recommended for everyone and are mandatory whenever you’re using the jumps or freestyle equipment. You’re welcome to bring your own or grab one at reception.
Sessions run whatever the weather – in fact the Proslope surface skis even better when it’s wet. Just bring waterproofs and you’re good to go.
Yes – all recreational sessions are booked ahead so we can keep the slope safe and uncrowded. You can book online or call reception on 01202 499155. Live session times and pricing are shown in the booking system.
Absolutely. Our rental shop is fully stocked with Salomon skis and boots – just add hire when you book. Prefer your own kit? Bring it along.
Recreational skiers use the main slope at all times. The nursery slope and the middle travelator / learning slopes are reserved for people being coached by one of our instructors.
For everyone’s safety, members of the public can’t teach others at the centre. If you’re still learning, book a lesson with one of our qualified instructors – they’ll have you skiing solo in no time.
