What is it?

The Masters Slalom is a ski race day built for the 40-and-over crowd. You take on a proper slalom course set with gates, ski two timed runs, and your best combined time decides where you finish. Racers are split into age categories, so you are always up against your own generation.
It is competitive, but it is also a brilliant, sociable day out. Old racers, club skiers and confident all-mountain types all line up together to find out who still has it.

How the day runs
Four steps to the podium.
Step 01
Register
Sign in, collect your bib and find your age category. The team will run you through the format on the day.
Step 02
Inspect the course
Sideslip the slalom, learn the gate line and plan your attack before the clock starts counting.
Step 03
Race two runs
Two timed runs through the gates. Push hard, stay clean, and avoid the costly mistakes that wreck a time.
Step 04
Hit the podium
Best combined time wins each category. Medals, bragging rights and the all-important results sheet await.

Split into age bands so you race your own generation. Forties up to seventies-plus, all welcome.
Proper timing
Electronic timing and a live results sheet, so every hundredth counts and the leaderboard stays honest.
Prizes & podium
Medals and a presentation for the quickest in each category. Then the real bragging begins.
Apres at the Pub
Warm up in the Alpine Pub afterwards to compare times and tell tales over a well-earned drink.

The format
Categories & the run.
Everyone races the same slalom course and skis two timed runs, with your best combined time deciding your placing. Racers are grouped into age categories so the competition is fair across the generations. Exact bands and timings are confirmed on the day and on the booking page.
Can I race?
Confident skier, 40 or over.
To take part
You need to be 40 or over on race day and a confident parallel skier, comfortable linking turns and controlling your speed on the main slope. You do not need any formal race experience, just the nerve to take on the gates.

Masters Slalom FAQs.
No. You just need to be a confident parallel skier who can control their speed and link turns. Plenty of racers are former club skiers, but plenty more are simply keen all-mountain skiers giving the gates a go.
Racers must be 40 or over and are grouped into age bands so you compete against your own generation. Exact bands are confirmed on the day and on the booking page.
You ski two timed runs through the slalom and your best combined time decides your placing within your category. Clean, consistent runs usually beat one wild fast run with a mistake.
Your own skis, plus a helmet, which is required. Standard ski gear is fine, you do not need a full race suit. If you need to hire skis or a helmet, let our team know when you book.
